Fontanarrosa Roberto Alfredo was born in the city of Rosario (Argentina) in 1944. His career started as a cartoonist, he quickly for their quality and the speed and security with running their drawings. These qualities made his graphic was abundant. Among his best known are the bully Boogie Oil, Odorless gaucho Pereyra and dog Mendieta. His fame transcended the borders of Argentina. For example: Boogie The Oily began publication in a newspaper of Colombia, but was released many years by the Mexican weekly Proceso.
He knew his love of soccer, a sport which dedicated several of his works. The story "December 19, 1971" is a classic of football in Argentina. As a good "football fan" always showed his sympathy for the team he was a kid, Rosario Central.
In the seventies and eighties, it could be found sipping coffee in his free time at the bar "Cairo" (corner of Santa Fe and Sarmiento streets), sitting on the metaphorical "table of the gallant", the scene of many of his best stories. Since the nineties, the board moved to bar "The Office" to the reopening of "Cairo."

In 2003 he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, so that since 2006, often used a wheelchair. On January 18, 2007 announced that he would draw his cartoons because they had lost complete control of his right hand because of the disease. But said he would continue writing scripts for their characters.
died on July 19, 2007, at age 62, victim of a cardiac arrest one hour after entering a hospital with symptoms of failure respiratory failure.
His funeral the day after his death was accompanied by hundreds of ordinary citizens, writers, actors and authorities of national policy. The march stopped off for about a minute near Arrochar Giant Stadium (home of Rosario Central Fontanarrosa club which was an acknowledged fan) and then continued north towards the cemetery, "park of Eternity" by the nearby town of Baigorria Grenadier, where he was buried.
