. City, harbor, streets and elevators. The adventure I
After a long period without news of them mine, of my whereabouts and new creations, here I am with a picture that I liked very much to do as I did with an artist of color, a painter of lanes on these streets so irregular in this city Valparaiso, located 2 hours from central Chile capital Santiago.
He's telling me as we inspire, that they are over 45 lifts and 15 hills, quaint and useful ascend vertically through the hillsides, accessing different viewpoints, which are on the one hand, an important means of mobilizing the population since the beginning of the century, and another part of the tourist attractions of the city.
For those who want to feel the hills and meet its people and customs, these years but existing lifts are undoubtedly the most practical means of access plan.
Now it's unfortunate to know that these valuable and historic elevators have been closed for lack of maintenance, and because employers do not want to deal with them, even renewal.
Many of the locals, they have difficulty reaching their homes in the hills are steeper and have to opt for a taxi or bus which are not very cheap.
I wanted, to make this illustration at Cerro Bellavista, especially the elevator that connects this hill is the central point the Holy Spirit.
This resulted in marked my childhood and even now I consider this city a point of history and popular culture so rich that I want to decentregarles.
Facts:
Valparaiso, in other years he called "The Jewel of the Pacific" , and there is a popular song that has this title, considering hymn of the city.
The Mapuche (last picture) Aliamapu called it, which means Mapudungun language "scorched earth" , related to frequent forest fires.
Also known as "Pancho ." Tradition has it that in 1846 began building the church of San Francisco in which Baron Hill tower protruding housing the machinery for the clock and four broad areas that could be seen from any location, particularly from offshore , being a reference for seafarers calling at the bay. To see the bell tower, topped by an iron cross, the Marines said, there is Pancho *! .
* Pancho the name is a diminutive Francisco, referring to the San Francisco Church.
I hope you like it!
